How it works

Step 1 Application

  • Apply for Internship Program (Close Date 16 September 2022)
  • University of New England will confirm initial acceptance via email.
  • Book Pre-Internship Consultation with InternMatch

Step 2 WRP course

  • Complete the InternMatch Academy (RTO No. 45546) Work Readiness Program coursework
  • These will focus on your employability skills and how to work effectively in a business environment

Step 3 Internship preparation

  • Resume & LinkedIn review
  • Select internship opportunities
  • Attend interviews with Host Companies
  • Receive internship offers

Step 4 Attend internships

  • Start your internship
  • InternMatch will continue to touch base with you throughout your internship to ensure everything is on track

Hands on experience

Internships are not about getting coffee for the Executive team. Here are some of the things other interns have done during their internships

Business marketing

  • Digital marketing strategies, including paid advertising and SEO
  • Social media & blog content creation and scheduling
  • Target market, competitor & persona research
  • Assist with marketing budgeting & planning
  • Event planning, hosting & promotion

Accounting, Finance and Commerce

  • Bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, stocktake, management accounting
  • Accounting assistance on MYOB, Xero, Quickbooks, Excel
  • Data entry and with appropriate supervision, construction of some financial statements
  • Income tax returns, FBT preparation, maintenance of Fixed Asset Registers, General Ledger reconciliations, Audits

Information technology

  • Business Analyst: Process mapping, market research, data analysis, general documentation and planning, CRM customisation
  • Developers: Front-end, back-end using a variety of technologies. Most commonly html, Java, Javascript, CSS, MYSQL
  • IT Support: Helpdesk positions involving troubleshooting and solving issues with various hardware and software
  • Networking: Hardware and cloud-based


  • Civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, structural and more
  • Make an immediate impact in areas such as procurement preparation, energy auditing, site surveying and life cycle costing
  • Use of software such as AutoCad, Revit, STAAD and MATLAB
